Visitors

The mission of USEK Library is to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University and its surrounding community.

Visitors and non-members of the USEK community may utilize the library's collections and services, according to the subscription type, by paying a fee. Once they have become a member, the Library's resources will be at their disposal for their personal and professional development.

Visitor Library Card
To obtain a Library card, the visitor must complete and print the application form and submit it to the Circulation Desk with two passport-size photographs, a proof of identity, a proof of current address and a non-refundable subscription fee.

Subscription types and cost
Individual one-day pass: Non-refundable subscription fee of 5,000 L.L.
Services
1. Seek research assistance and use material at the three USEK Library branches.
2. Consult material from the Library stock (refer to Borrowing section).
3. Access the private, special and rare collections.
4. Access almost all databases and e-journal collections by logging in to any Library computer at the three USEK Library branches.
5. Logon to the computers in the three USEK Library branches.
6. Make use of the photocopier upon the purchase of a USEK photocopy card.
7. Place a request for duplication (refer to Reprography Services).

Individual one-week pass: Non-refundable subscription fee of 15,000 L.L.
Services
1. Seek research assistance and use material at the three USEK Library branches.
2. Consult material from the Library stock (refer to Borrowing section).
3. Access the private, special and rare collections.
4. Access almost all databases and e-journal collections by logging in to any library computer at the three USEK Library branches.
5. Logon to the computers in the three USEK Library branches.
6. Make use of the photocopier upon the purchase of a USEK photocopy card.
7. Place a request for duplication (refer to Reprography Services). 
 
Individual three-month subscription: Non-refundable subscription fee of 75,000 L.L.
Services
1. Seek research assistance and use material at the three USEK Library branches.
2. Borrow up to two (2) items for a period of 5 days (refer to Borrowing section).
3. Access the private, special and rare collections.
4. Access almost all databases and e-journal collections by logging in to a library computer at the three USEK Library branches.
5. Logon to the computers in the three USEK Library branches.
6. Activate a printing account, limited to 75 pages for the duration.
7. Make use of the photocopier upon the purchase of a USEK photocopy card.
8. Place a request for duplication (refer to Reprography Services).

Individual one-year subscription: Non-refundable subscription fee of 150,000 L.L.
Services
1. Seek research assistance and use material at the three USEK Library branches.
2. Borrow up to ten (10) items for a period of 7 days (refer to Borrowing section).
3. Access the private, special and rare collections.
4. Access almost all databases and e-journal collections by logging in to any library computer at the three USEK Library branches.
5. Logon to the computers in the three USEK Library branches.
6. Activate a printing account, limited to 150 pages for the duration.
7. Make use of the photocopier upon the purchase of a USEK photocopy card.
8. Place a request for duplication (refer to Reprography Services).

Institutional (Library or Information/Research Center) one-year subscription: Non-refundable subscription fee of 300,000 L.L.

This membership is open to a member of the institution presenting the membership card at the Circulation Desk.

Services
1. Seek research assistance and use material at the three USEK Library branches.
2. Borrow up to five (5) items for a period of 10 days (refer to Borrowing section).
3. Access the private, special and rare collections.
4. Access almost all databases and e-journal collections by logging in to any library computer at the three USEK Library branches.
5. Logon to the computers in the three USEK Library branches.
6. Activate a printing account, limited to 250 pages for the duration.
7. Make use of the photocopier upon the purchase of a USEK photocopy card.
8. Place a request for duplication (refer to Reprography Services).

Restrictions for all non-USEK members:
The following services are not available for non-USEK members:
1. Interlibrary loan and intercampus loan
2. Course reserve materials
3. Selected software
4. Certain media materials
5. Recall of materials checked out by others users
6. Remote access to subscription databases: licensing agreements between the USEK Library and proprietors of certain databases strictly limit off-site use to current USEK students, Faculty, and staff.

End of Subscription
Cards have to be returned to the Circulation Desk at the end of the subscription period. There is a replacement fee for lost cards. Payment must be for the exact full amount due.

Wi-Fi Access
Free Wi-Fi access is available for visitors within the library premises. Please ask at the Circulation Desk for more information.

Enquiry services
Staff at the Reference Desk will be pleased to provide directional help in finding material within the Library. A number of printed guides to Library resources and services are freely available and information about services can be found on the Library web pages.

Change of Address:
It is the responsibility of the visiting library user to keep the Library informed of any address changes. Library fines will not be waived if he/she fails to notify the Library of a change of address. A visiting library user can update his/her address with library staff at the Circulation Desk.

IMPORTANT
Rules and Regulations of the USEK Library are to be respected. Failure to do so may result in the suspension of borrowing privileges. Membership is discretionary and the administration reserves the right to refuse applications from membership without redress.

The Library is responsible for safeguarding the confidentiality of borrower's transactions and for providing an environment conducive for research.
