Founded in 2006, the Architecture and Maintenance Office seeks to serve the different faculties, departments, offices of all the USEK branches. It plans, organizes, coordinates, controls, evaluates, executes and facilitates the required non academic and non administrative activities and services.
The Architecture and Maintenance Office is mainly responsible for construction and restoration work, adjustment and readjustment of the University’s buildings, premises and landscaping. It ensures the purchase, installation, functioning, maintenance and repair of the USEK various equipment (electricity, plumbing, mechanics, carpentry, etc.). Furthermore, the Architecture and Maintenance Office supervises, controls and coordinates the following services:

Concept, Study and Control Service: it represents the cornerstone of the University’s development. Its role is to plan, organize, coordinate, control and evaluate activities and future architectural projects which are part of the “Master Plan”:
- Building the main entrance and handling traffic organization
- Constructing a new administrative building
- Renovating the cafeteria below the John Paul II Amphitheater
- Restoring and refurbishing the building of the Faculty of Business and Commercial Sciences
- Establishing a new building for the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts
- Establishing a new building for the Faculty of medicine and Medical Sciences
- Completing laying outs and landscaping of the University
- Establishing a Sports Club
- Developing the Main Library
- Renovating monasteries and churches
- Supervising incomplete projects such as: Hall of Residence, generator, building of the Faculty of Sciences
- Others
Besides the abovementioned activities and projects, the office makes the inventory of the stock and controls the in and out movement of tools and equipment. It also handles the purchase of office furniture, tools, supplies for the laboratories, etc. In short, it provides the university with essential equipment and furniture.

Maintenance and execution service: it has an essential role for the proper functioning of the university’s activities. It fulfills the following tasks: plumbing, carpentry, mechanics, assembling and disassembling, delivery, painting, excavations, paving, etc.
It deals as well with public regulations with the municipality, the Order of Engineers and Architects, land administration, water service company, etc.

Gardening service: its role is to carry out all gardening work and maintenance of outdoor areas: grass planting, brush clearing, lawn mowing, weeding aisles, interior and exterior landscaping, digging and pruning shrubs, trimming rose bushes and other plants and flowers, flowering, etc. This service handles as well the management and maintenance of the experimental agricultural field in Hboub.

Security service: the security service is a subject of outsourcing. It is present within the University in order to foster a favorable milieu for education and academic life, while providing protection services related to life and property. It is also responsible for public safety as well as institutional security 24/24 throughout the whole year.
With a regular staff and a support team of students, the security service fulfills the following tasks: the physical security of installations, prevention of crimes and prevention of losses, maintaining discipline and implementing the University’s law and regulations, protection against fire, prevention of accidents, work safety and management of traffic and parking.

Cleaning service: the cleaning service includes the various benefits which may be useful and essential to maintain and clean all the premises and alleys of the University. The cleaning consists in maintaining the cleanliness of different workplaces in order to provide the different members of the University the opportunity of working within most favorable conditions.
Cleaning within the University is subject to a subcontract with a specialized company. The cleaning staff is doubly controlled: by a supervisor from the service provider company and the University. The supervisor of a specific zone collects on a daily basis all comments and objections of the different departments of the University, gather them and informs the concerned parties.
