1. Presentation

The School of Music attached to the Faculty of Music of USEK offers a specialized teaching of music focused on the usual theoretical and practical subjects, including Solfa, Dictation, Theory, Harmony, Counterpoint, Eastern and Western Instruments, Eastern and Western Singing, etc.. After passing examinations at the end of the studies, the student receives a diploma from the Faculty of Music which is recognized by the Lebanese Government.

Functioning, Facilities and Activities

  • The School Authorities consider it their pleasure and duty to regularly meet the students and their parents or guardians, according to a timetable fixed by them.
  • The School is open every day between Monday and Friday from 08.30 to 18.30, and on Saturdays from 08.30 to 14.30.
  • It organizes various concerts meant first of all for both vocal and instrumental interpretation.
  • It organizes intensive sessions for both vocal and instrumental practice and interpretation.
  • The School awards prizes and scholarships to particularly brilliant students.
  • Thanks to its connection with the Faculty of Music it has at its disposal a rich library,
  • Collections of sound and video recordings of music, and a photocopying service.
  • It makes every effort to keep constantly up-to-date with new locations, installations and equipment.

The premises, with large lecture halls and private cabins, are equipped, air-conditioned and soundproofed so as to allow agreeable uninterrupted use.

2. Admission

There are no conditions attached to registration. The School is open to any applicant above the age of 6.

  • An annual fee gives students the right to follow the courses. This should be paid at the secretariat on the dates fixed.
  • The following documents are required:
    - two copies of the registration form duly filled in.
    - two photocopies of the identity card or, in the case of foreigners, of the passport.
    - four photos.
    - Registration must be undertaken in person. It may not be undertaken on behalf of another person.

The start of courses is generally fixed for October.

The academic year covers 26 courses

3. Certificates and Diplomas

The USEK Faculty of Music provides a wide range of music teaching, from the elementary level to the higher specialized level, thanks to the School of Music and to the Department of Higher Specialized Music Teaching. It awards the following diplomas:

at the level of the school,

  • the 1st Degree Certificate following the passing of the 1st Degree Examination (end of Elementary Level).
  • the 2nd Degree Certificate following the passing of the 2nd Degree Examination (end of Intermediate Level).

at the level of the Department of Higher Specialized Music Teaching,

  • the Diploma of End of Studies, or License, following the passing of the 3rd Degree Examination (end of Higher Level).
  • the Higher Specialized Diploma, or Master's Degree, following the passing of the examinations terminating the courses of perfection or specialization.

The Faculty also delivers testimonials covering studies that have been done.
