Independent missions (2008 – 2009)
  • Spring 2008: Prof. Michel ANDRAWOS (Catholic Theological Union, USA), Social morale.
  • Spring 2009: F. Pierre-Marie HOMBERT (France), medieval philosophy (Augustine), Fathers of the Church in the 4th and the 5th century. (Augustine), Patristic Christology.

A regular ten-day mission comprises the following tasks
  • A ten to twelve-hour intensive course in the framework of the Lebanese teacher’s course and in cooperation with him.
  • Educational and academic exchanges with the Lebanese teachers of the same research and teaching discipline.
  • An open conference about a theme in which the invited professor is specialized.
  • A thematic gathering, if possible, with the graduates of the Pontifical Faculty of Theology.

  • Thursday 11th October 2007: “Presentation of the Lineamenta of the bishops’ Synod about the Word of God” (in Arabic)

  • Thursday 29th November 2007: “The relation between canonic law, theology and civil law” (Mgr Elie HAYEK) (in Arabic)
  • Thursday 3rd January 2008: “Promotion of the missionary dimension in the Catholic Oriental Churches”. (In Arabic)
    Speakers: F. Paul KARAM (National director of the missionary pontifical works in Lebanon): “The missionary dimension in the Catholic Church”; Mgr Nabil ANDARY (Patriarchal vicar of Jounieh’s diocese): “The pastoral of the foreign Afro-Asian employees in Lebanon”; Mgr Bechara RAI (Maronite archbishop of Jbeil): “The situation of the Maronite missions abroad”.
  • Thursday 21st February 2008: “The educational relations between the monks of the Lebanese Maronite Order and the Jesuit Fathers (1891- 1914)” (Father Elie AZZI, Kaslik) (In Arabic).
  • Thursday 13th March 2008: “The bible and the liturgy”, theme of the 6th Biblical days organized by the Biblical Federation in Lebanon (F. Ayoub CHAHWAN, Kaslik, and Prof. Daniel AYYOUCH, Balamand); (in Arabic)

  • Friday 13th February 2009: “The new challenges of the Church in Iraq” (Mgr Louis SAKO, Chaldean archbishop of Kirkouk, Iraq).
  • Thursday 26th March 2009: “The Church in Saint Paul’s Epistles” (Archimandrite Jacques KHALIL, University of Balamand); “The Man according to Saint Paul” (Father Antoine AOUKAR, Antonine University) (In cooperation with the Biblical Federation, Beirut).
