Mr. Ray Lahood

Ray Lahood became the Secretary of Transportation under President Barack Obama in 2009 until 2013. He led a 60,000-employee agency that regulates American aviation, highways, railroads, public transit, seaways, traffic safety and pipelines, among other modes of transportation. Mr. Lahood served as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representative (US Congress), from the state of Illinois between 1994 and 2008. As a prominent member of Congress, Mr. Lahood presided over the House impeachment hearings for President Bill Clinton in 1998.

Prior to serving in the Congress, Mr. Lahood was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives in 1982 and 1983 and has worked as an aide to other Illinois congressional representatives between 1977 and 1982 and between 1983 and 1994.

Mr. Lahood holds a Bachelor degree in Education and Sociology from Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. He was the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker at the 2010 Graduation Ceremony of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik.
