The collaboration between the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and Abou Bakr Belkaid University (UAB) started in 2005 within the framework of a tripartite project AUF-PCSI, which groups as well the University of Claude Bernard – Lyon I (UCBL). This cooperation was able to set up an experimental device for determining the thermodynamic dissolution of organic molecules, xenobiotics which affect the human health. The results of this joint work were the subject of a long conversation at the CITEDD 2008, in Tlemcen, Algeria, a conversation whose participants were the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Computer Engineering at USEK, Prof. Naim Ouaini and Dr. Joseph Saab from the Department of Chemistry and Life Sciences.

They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Latifa Negadi, chief organizer of the CITEDD 2008 conference in Tlemcen.

The gathering started with a visit knowledge to the different sections of the University located in Tlemcen and founded in 2000 in view of receiving 40 000 students. A meeting was held with Prof. Boufeldja Tabti, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at the UAB in the presence of the Vice Dean, Prof. Said Ghalem, Prof. Latifa Negadi and Dr. Bachir Moustafa-Kara. Prof. Naim Ouaini presented the functioning mode of our education systems for the Bachelor of Sciences, Masters and bachelor of Engineering awarded by USEK.

Prof. Tabti expressed his interest to initiate collaboration among the different departments according to a cooperation agreement predetermined between both universities.

Afterwards, the Rector of UAB, Prof. Ghouali Nordine, welcomed Prof. Ouaini and Dr. Saab in the presence of Prof. Latifa Negadi and Dr. Bachir Moustafa-Kara. The rector highlighted that UAB has, in its different fields, 32000 students and 1211 instructors/researchers.

The Dean, as for him, elaborated on the thematic research jointly aiming at a sustainable development on the national level, a multidisciplinary approach, and the quality of work which remains fundamental.

Another visit was paid to a different section of UAB. The university building was constructed in 2006 to enclose different faculties which include sciences and agriculture. Furthermore, Prof. Ouaini and Dr. Saab were hosted by Prof. Radwan Bechir, Director of the Catalysis and Synthesis Laboratory, who introduced the different work groups. Then, a visit was paid to the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry where Prof. Joseph Kajima introduced the equipment and explained the different research themes.

Dean Ouaini met with Dr. Jean- Charles De Hemptinne from the French Institute of Oil in the presence of Jacques Jose and Dr. Ilham Mokbel from the University of Claude Bernard-Lyon I.

The conference entitled “Setschenow Constant Determination and Salting-out Effect of Inorganic Cations on Non-electrolytic Metalaxyl Molecule” was presented by Prof. Ouaini and Dr. Saab. During this meeting, they were asked by Prof. Marek Rogalski (University of Paul Verlaine, Metz, France) and Prof. Ahmed Ait-Kaci (University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene, Algeria) for a collaboration framework in AUF project of PCSI type. Dean Ouaini asked for some time to think about the issue and do some research in order to gather further information about the concerned laboratories before launching a concrete and sustainable cooperation.
