“We provide the best conditions for conserving your manuscripts of which you will always remain the owners.”
Deterioration is a serious problem that threatens rare books, manuscripts and archives if they are not stored in adequate conditions. Aware of this situation, the WCWH offers to stock your precious collections in its Heritage Bank.
- Conservation in the Heritage Bank is free for those who help preserve and digitize in the WCWH.
- The depositor will always remain the sole owner of his/her collection.
The Heritage Bank is characterized by the following:
- Premises especially built to stock manuscripts and archives thus guaranteeing optimal conservation standards.
- Air conditioning and ventilation are provided by the VRV system that controls the inflow of fresh air, the outflow of old air, an ideal humidity level (55° + 5) and a stable temperature (18 + 2).
- Shelves are covered with an oven-baked, heat-hardened powder.
- Walls are covered with an anti-fungal paint.
- Protection against fires is provided by an advanced system of fire and smoke detectors, fire-stopping walls, an alarm, and a gas that is non-toxic to humans and harmless to books (FM 200). Fire extinguishers are programmed to work automatically once the alarm is set off.
- Surveillance cameras as well as an alarm system guarantee protection from theft.
