LLA organizes Nation of Readers: Why and How? @ USEK Library

May 18, 2017
On May 18, 2017, the Lebanese Library Association (LLA) organized an event at the Main Library at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) entitled: Why we need to create a nation of readers and the role of librarians with Ms. Ingrid Bon, IFOLA Manager Development Programmes, as the main speaker and trainer.

The event, attended by 25 school, public, academic and national librarians, as well as teachers, from various regions of Lebanon (North to Shouf to Beirut), was divided into two sessions:

1. Presentation: Why do we need a Nation of Readers?

2. Workshop: The seven steps leading to good plan development: How to create a nation of readers?

Between the sessions, the attendees had a tour of the renovated reading area, as well as the digitization and preservation centers, at the USEK Library and enjoyed lunch together in the University restaurant.

The day ended with the attendees planning to follow up on their activities with the hope of implementing these plans. As a result of the event, LLA has launched the Lebanese Library Association: School Libraries Facebook account.
