Within the framework of its expansion strategy, the Faculty of Sciences and Computer Engineering at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) organised on Thursday and Friday April 10 and 11, 2008 a series of meetings with two representatives of the Computer Science Corporation (CSC): Abdallah El-Malaki, actuarial manager, and Nada El-Chidiac, actuarial counsellor. It is worth mentioning that CSC is a multinational consultancy company in the actuarial profession and management.

During the course of these meetings, CSC’s representatives, Mr. Abdallah El-Malaki and Ms. Nada El-Chidiac, met with the dean Prof. Naim Ouaini, the Faculty’s academic secretary Dr Hyam Abboud, the head of the Department of Mathematics Dr Khaled Jaber and the head of actuarial training, Dr Elie Hajj Moussa.

These meetings tackled a variety of issues, including:

1. The establishment of an actuarial consultancy within the University, managed by actuarial experts who would share their expertise with young recruits, mainly Faculty graduates. The scope of this consultancy’s activity would not be limited to the Lebanese market only, as it would also extend to the Middle East and Europe in general.
2. The conclusion of an outline cooperation agreement between this consultancy and the university with the aim of providing high-level actuarial training to USEK students and traineeships to Master students, in addition to the formation of a research team in the actuarial profession, which would be entrusted with an academic and practical mission.
