Within the cooperation framework between the USEK and the UCBL (University Claude Bernard-Lyon 1), the Faculty of Sciences and Computer Engineer welcomed Professor Yves Monteil from the UCBL, November 14, 2005.

After a cordial reception at the Dean’s office, Prof Naïm Ouaini, Prof Monteil visited the new premises of the faculty. The visit was followed by a lunch at the USEK restaurant.

A work meeting took place to set up the Master program of Chemistry recently opened at the Faculty of Science and Computer Engineer of USEK.

A second meeting took place between Prof Naïm Ouaini and Prof Monteil in the presence of Dr. Michel Nakhl and Dr. Joseph Saab. The discussion was related to the Bachelor of Science and Master programs in Chemistry. The common research topics were also largely discussed and Prof Monteil made some research proposals, meeting with the market needs in Lebanon, which could be developed between our both faculties. He also suggested carrying out the heavy physicochemical analysis in Lyon, mainly in the field of sciences of materials.

For his part, Dean Ouaini wished that the research topics would be pursued at USEK in order to lead on theses subjects in co-direction and co-supervision with the UCBL. He also asked the teachers present to prepare the visit of Prof Monteil which will take place in January 2006 within the framework of the exchange programs of professors between the USEK and the UCBL. During this visit, Prof Monteil will give courses in the B.S and Master programs as he will contribute to the installation of the research axis.
