New Faculty Orientation
A welcoming session for new faculty members takes place at the beginning of each academic year.

The session aims to provide essential information for a smooth integration into the USEK academic community. It also features presentations from key units, including the Office of the Provost, Institutional Research & Assessment Office, Higher Center for Research, Doctoral College, Information Technology Office, Learning & Teaching Excellence Center, and Human Resources Office. Faculty members have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session and receive valuable insights into their new journey at USEK.

Faculty Workload Policy Discussion

Start Time: 9:30 am we will be welcoming you with a meet and greet breakfast before the launching of the workshop, providing an opportunity for networking and informal discussions.

During the workshop, we will delve into various aspects of the faculty workload policy, including its current structure, potential areas for improvement, and ways to ensure that it aligns with our institution's objectives while also supporting the well-being of our faculty members. Your participation will be integral to the success of this workshop, as we seek to gather diverse viewpoints and engage in constructive dialogue that will inform any future revisions or updates to the policy. Furthermore, it is important to acknowledge that attendees are tasked with conveying the insights and discussions from the workshop to their fellow faculty members, thereby ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are well-informed and engaged in the implementation of this policy.

The Catalog Management Workshop, organized for Associate deans and Heads of departments on February 21st, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the auditorium of Building H- room HS315.

This workshop shall guide them through managing all areas of the university catalog and shall elaborate on the importance of building a proper catalog, to ensure an efficient process for the course offering creation and registration.

Faculty Development Workshop entitled "Influential Leadership," scheduled from March 18th to March 22nd, 2024, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Antoine Ammar Faculty Lounge, Building H – room H019.

This workshop extends over 5 days, consisting of 5 modules, each essential for completion to receive a certificate of accomplishment. The modules include Influence, Values and Ethics, Leading Change, Core and Managerial Competencies, and Case Study. These sessions will be conducted by Chief Antoine Abi Samra, Chief of Asia-Pacific Operations, United Nations Department of Safety and Security, New York, USA.

Faculty Development Workshop entitled “Improving Communications Skills” on March 20th, 2024 from 10:00a.m. to 1:00pm at the Hall of Building D at the Business School, 4th floor.

This workshop shall introduce academic instructors to the different forms of communication in and beyond lecture settings. It will train participants to better understand their audiences and to fine tune teaching techniques to make them more memorable through communication tools based on logic, credibility, and emotional connections.

GPU Virtual Grant Writing Training took place in collaboration with the Education Development Center (EDC) and the Office of the Provost. The Grants and International Projects Units at the International Affairs Office organized and hosted a virtual event, inviting participants to join a session on grant writing.

This training, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to equip faculty members with essential skills and knowledge necessary for developing competitive grant proposals. The goal is to foster a culture of successful grant acquisition within the university community. The training is conducted by Mr. Rabieh Razzouk, the Director of the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University (FSU). Participants who successfully complete the training will receive an E-Certificate. The training took place on two consecutive sessions March 20 and March 27, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
