Ambassador of Mexico lectures at USEK

The Ambassador of Mexico in Lebanon H.E. Mr. Jorge Alvares Fuentes presented a lecture on April 14, 2011 within the framework of a series of lectures for the 2010 – 2011 academic year, given by the ambassadors of Latin America in Lebanon, organized by the Higher Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences and the Center of Studies and Cultures of Latin America (CECAL) at USEK, under the theme of: “Foreign Policy – Latin America and its Relations with the Middle East”.

In his lecture, H.E. Mr. Fuentes dealt with the foreign policy of his country with the Middle East, considering that “Mexico started since the 90s to impose itself more effectively on the international scene, assuming new international responsibilities in a way that goes in line with its political potential, economic weigh, diplomatic performance and cultural prosperity”.

On the other hand, the Ambassador underlined that “The Arab countries, particularly Lebanon, have always appreciated the serious and constructive international efforts of Mexico, based on a respectful and respected foreign policy which defends sovereignty, refuses interference in internal affairs, promotes international rights and seeks to consolidate peaceful coexistence among peoples and nations”.

Following the lecture, the Ambassador visited the Center of Studies and Culture of Latin America at USEK, accompanied by the First Secretary and Counselor Mr. Jorge Malcom Baker. The Ambassador offered a collection of books (35 volumes) - Handbook of Latin American Studies - to the library of the Center.
