Law in the Movies : Philadelphia

Within the context of the Law in the Movies, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) organized the screening of “Philadelphia” (1993), an award-winning movie inspired by real-life events. The film highlights the moral and legal issues of discrimination and homosexuality, by telling the story of Andrew Beckett, a lawyer suffering from AIDS, who was dismissed from his law firm. While the firm partners argue they dismissed him because of incompetence, Andrew pleads that the real cause is discrimination and sues the firm.

This event, hosted by the School of Law and Political Sciences, took place on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 9:00 a.m., in the Conference Hall.

After the screening, a discussion was held between students and instructors.
