H.E. Mr. Ihor Ostash, Ambassador of Ukraine to Lebanon, visited USEK on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. After meeting with Fr. Tony Eid, USEK Vice President for Community Life, Mr. Ostash visited the USEK Library to offer his book “the Gospel of Mazepa” printed in 1708 in Aleppo.

Mr. Ostash toured all the library hidden treasures and explored “The Book of the Psalms of David, King and Prophet”, the first book ever printed in the Eastern part of the Ottoman Empire, printed in the Monastery of Saint Anthony of Qozhaya in 1610.

During the visit, His Excellency also met with Fr. Joseph Moukarzel, Library Director, and discussed several ways that could strengthen the cooperation between the USEK Library and Ukrainian institutions concerned with cultural heritage.
