The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) is organizing a one-month workshop, titled: “Chords and Colors: A Step-by-step Guide to Practical Harmony”, given by Mr. Marc Abou Naoum, expert pianist, arranger, and orchestrator.
This workshop, hosted by the School of Music and Performing Arts, will take place from January 11 to February 4, 2023, in the School of Music and Performing Arts. It targets pianists and keyboardists, guitarists, arrangers, music producers, and anyone involved in the music industry.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand diatonic harmony, chord functions, and chord progressions.
- Think properly and methodically when assigning chords to any melody.
- Extend their chord palette gradually from the most basic colors to the more complex and tense (but enjoyable) ones.
Applicants must be able to:
- Easily read a melody in treble clef.
- Know all the major and minor scales, triads, and their inversions in all 12 keys.
- Master and identify the intervals.
Schedule : Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. | Saturdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
