Faculty of Arts and Sciences

Dean’s Word

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) was established in 2019, when 18 departments, institutes, schools, centers, and academies well-known for their rich history of academic and scholarly contributions at the national, regional, and international levels, merged into one large unit.

Our Faculty is a community of dedicated scholars and teachers from diverse disciplines, whose expertise converges to provide an exceptional and unique education for our students, and whose research generates new knowledge and contributes to increasing scientific productivity and to developing innovative solutions to contemporary issues.

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences plays a central role at USEK. It does not only offer its students a journey of learning and discovery into the arts, humanities, and social, behavioral, natural, computational, and mathematical sciences but also provides a liberal arts foundation for all undergraduate students at USEK.

The FAS has the most extensive and diverse academic programs, and we are continuously striving to improve our curricula, to remain at the forefront of higher education trends, characterized by competitiveness and excellence. Our degrees, not only prepare students for specific careers, but also emphasize critical and creative thinking, quantitative reasoning, civic engagement, and communication skills, which are needed to succeed in a diverse and ever-changing world. All Arts and Sciences programs aim to forge future leaders, enthusiastic to create and innovate, to work collaboratively, to set worthy goals and, ultimately, to help shape the future by making a difference in their communities.

The FAS adaptability has proved to be our essential skill and best asset during the past two years. Living through a period of extraordinary change and uncertainty on the financial, economic, social and medical levels, we were able to be creative and flexible in the face of new situations and were able to cope with, capitalize on change, and recover when unforeseen circumstances alter life plans. The USEK family, students, faculty, staff and administration have managed to continue their work, education and mission and have shown high levels of resilience, responsibility and solidarity.

Let us, students, faculty, staff, and administration move forward and look ahead with renewed energy, hope, faith, confidence and conviction so we can, from our roots, grow stronger and forge a better and brighter future.
