Mission

We assist USEK students in exploring their career options and enhancing their employability through the development of lifelong career management skills by:
  • Creating an energized student-centered environment that makes career education accessible to all.
  • Providing expertise and leading the integration of career development and experiential education into USEK life and promoting their benefits to students, faculty, staff, and partners.

Vision

Our vision is to see all USEK students actively engaged in career exploration in a way that enriches their student life experience, enables them to understand the connection of their education to their professional development, and allows them to realize their career objectives and make constructive contributions to society.

The CSO is now active member in three international associations with expertise in career guidance and development.

NCDA: National Career Development Association

The National Vocational Guidance Association (NVGA) was founded in 1913. In 1985 NVGA was renamed and became the National Career Development Association (NCDA). Thus NCDA is the first, longest running and preeminent career development association in the world. NCDA is the recognized leader in developing standards for the career development profession, for the provision of career counseling programs and services, and for the evaluation of career information material .

Whether you need to build, review your CV, or cover letter, to learn more about the strategies of an effective job interview, to receive some portfolio guidelines or even to learn more the techniques of searching for an internship or a job.

The meeting takes place in the Career Services Office, Monday till Friday from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. Meetings last around 20 minutes.

Follow these steps to have a better chance at landing an internship
  • Update your resume
  • Apply early; don't wait till the last minute
  • Prepare for the internship interview

  • Attend job fairs or any networking event
  • Reach out to the Career Services Office

Getting the internship is just the first step, knowing what to do once you get there is a whole other process. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your internship:
  • Set goals

  • Meet with your supervisor regularly


Beyond the internship
I finished my internship, now what?

Your internship is coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean your experience is over
  • Schedule a last meeting with you supervisor
  • Thank people personally.
  • Exchange contact details
  • Ask for a reference letter from your supervisor
  • Send a thank you note to your supervisorFind and apply for internships
