Samer Atallah, PhD

Samer Atallah, PhD is the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research and an Associate Professor of Economics at The American University in Cairo (AUC) School of Business. He is a non-resident scholar at the Middle East Institute and a fellow at the Economic Research Forum. He was a visiting scholar at the Center for Democracy, Development, and Rule of Law at Stanford University and a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago Center in Paris.

His research interests are political economy and development economics. His research covers democratization, quantitative analysis of election results, and quality of employment. He has several publications in the European Journal of Political Economy, International Journal of Economic Theory, and International of Development and Economics.

He earned his PhD and MA in Economics from McGill University. He also holds a MSc. in Engineering from University of California at Berkeley and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from AUC.
