The Jean Monnet projects are designed to promote excellence in teaching and research, and to foster innovation, mutual enrichment and the dissemination of European Union-related content. In 2017, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) was awarded a Jean Monnet grant as part of the Erasmus+ 2017 call for proposals in order to support the development of a teaching module on “Europe and the MENA region: Issues and Challenges in Trans-Mediterranean Relations”.

This project is the first Jean Monnet Project to be selected in Lebanon in 10 years and is coordinated by H.E. Ambassador Nassif Hitti, Director of USEK’s Higher Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences with the support of the International Affairs Office.
Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC), March 8-9, 2018, Malta
The Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC) invited H.E. Ambassador Nassif Hitti to Malta on March 8 and 9, 2018 to give two lectures to diplomats from Mediterranean countries who are enrolled in a one-year Master of Arts program in Diplomatic Studies at MEDAC. Ambassador Hitti tackled the current challenges in the Middle East and their impact on Europe.

At the invitation of the Maltese Ministry for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Nassif Hitti also lectured diplomats on trans-Mediterranean relations, issues and challenges, and emphasized the importance of charting a common agenda to address these challenges.
Erasmus+ Information Day in Beirut (Lebanon), October 5, 2017
On the occasion of the Erasmus+ Information Day, which was organized in Beirut on October 5, 2017, H.E. Ambassador Nassif Hitti presented the EU-funded Jean Monnet module “Europe and the MENA region: Issues and Challenges in Trans-Mediterranean Relations” and underscored the importance of similar projects with regard to Euro-Mediterranean relations.
